As a kid, I was privileged to be able to go to my physio appointments because my dad had taken time off 3 times a week to be able to get me the care that I needed. I had become friends with this girl with the same condition as me. She was older than me, and I remember I had asked her why she was starting physio much later when she had been in Canada for a while. for reference i was around 9 at the time, and she was around 11 or 12. That is when she told me that is was just her and her mom, and that because her mom was fairly new to Canada, she was not able to speak English very well or advocate for her daughter as she would have liked.
