Problem related to the autism spectrum disorder

Problem:

What notes can I make using this paragraph? Today, autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the umbrella term for a family of similar disorders, is known to be a troubling condition that begins in childhood, lasts a lifetime, and disrupts a person's social and communication skills. Autistic children can appear to lack interest in other people; sometimes they even seem to be averse to human contact. They tend to avoid eye contact and fail to modulate social interactions. Absent early intensive intervention, they do not develop normal social attachments or express empathy in social relations. Many fail to develop friendships and become social isolates (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Baron-Cohen, 2003). Signs of autism-including lack of gesturing, vocalizing, and eye contact to initiate communication and inability to pick up cues from watching facial expressions-are evident in the first year of life. The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently estimated that the rate of ASD is 14.6 per 1,000 children, equivalent to 1 out of 68 school-aged children (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). It is three to five times more common for boys than for girls to be diagnosed with ASD (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Kanner described autism as an innate disorder and foresaw the need for research into the genetics of autism at about the same time that DNA was first identified as the bearer of genetic information.
