Problem: The Wolf of Wall Street
The Wolf of Wall Street was a massive commercial and critical success. This week I am trying to provide a little more structure to the questions, and I DO want your post to address all 3 of the points below, but the questions are very open ended and you can take them in many directions. Watch the film actively and record thoughts related to the three questions, then post those here as your initial discussion post. Your post must refer to the media influence concepts from this week's readings and to at least one theory of crime to receive full credit.
How are the characters, especially Jordan and his Stratton Oakmont firm partners, pulled into a life of crime? What theories of crime are utilized to explain criminality in this film? You can refer to theories from your Introduction to Criminology class or Theories of Crime class, if you've taken it. Need Assignment Help?
What do you think this film "teaches" an audience? Can you find there specific moments where the film is even intentionally educating its audience? Why is it doing that?
How does the film depict the victims of these crimes? Find a specific representation of a victim and explain how it contributes to the "message" of the film.
