Problem regarding the biosocial research

Problem:

Respond to classmate's discussion question in 80 words. When it comes to biosocial research I have to say it's interesting. I can understand and see the benefits of the statistics but I think I'm too biased to see past it being just that... statistics. I may be wrong but the way it reads in the research, basically anybody who isn't of high intelligence and who hasn't grown up relatively wealthy is potentially a criminal. If we continue with that way of thinking then well, almost the whole population is going to be, has been, or is a criminal. Anyone who has a slightly miss shaped head, big ears just to throw out some examples. I'm not really sure if the justice system should adapt based on the information given by the biosocial theory. I think it's an.... Unique and maybe even a ok way to just lightly observe some people who are more inclined to criminal behavior. Even then I'm not so sure. It just seems too much like stereotyping people and in a dangerous way. Stereotyping someone based off of the way they grew up, how they look, or even who their parents are is a way to ruin someone's future before it even begins. That could in fact create the very criminal you were trying to avoid.

When it comes to a crime already have been committed, the background check coming back and adding on to it the traits from the biosocial theory then maybe more rehabilitation than corrections needs to be considered. If the crime is being committed because of something involving the person being the product of their environment then we should start by considering given the minimum sentence but a lot of the appropriate rehabilitation. Give them the right help and tools to be successful so they won't repeat whatever crime they have committed. I think it should also be considered when determining punishment because at the end of the day the crime was committed. It's different to prejudge someone for something they didn't do but when it was said they might do something or are at a high risk of doing something, and then they proceed to do it..... we might have to considered a more extensive rehabilitation.
