Read the following dilemma and then answer the questions that follow. Duncan is an analyst at a major consulting firm that serves Wall Street investment banks. While working late one night, he realizes that he needs some transaction data that he had sent to Eva earlier in the day. Duncan had accidentally seen what appeared to be Eva's computer password written on a tablet on her desk. He decides to log into her computer to retrieve the data he needs. While in the computer, he notices an open email to one of Eva's friends detailing the top-secret transaction that Duncan is working on. He realizes that the person receiving this information can act on it and potentially make a lot of money. Duncan finds himself between a rock and a hard place. He should report this violation of confidentiality-but then he would have to reveal that he had logged into Eva's computer without permission. If Duncan takes the egoistic approach to this ethical dilemma, what would his response be?
