Problem based on health promotion

Problem:

The concept of health has changed many times over the years. As the knowledge of how to stay healthy grew, so did the meaning of the term. Initially, the absence of disease meant health. Then once the evidence of cleanliness became glaring, the practice became a recognized norm of how to combat infections. With the creation and administration of vaccines and their success in the field, health took a preventative meaning. Falkner (2018) states, As health promotion grew, the definition of health became viewed as an accumulation of factors such as physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.

Health promotion has changed in its delivery of care. Sanitation efforts were effective at curbing diseases. Eventually, organizations such as World Health Organization (WHO) were created. Who concerned themselves with promoting health on the world stage. In the United States, goals for the population were formulated and released to promote the health of its citizens.

Nurses must implement health promotion interventions based on evidence-based practice. Using evidence-based practice implies that the nurse knows ahead of time how their actions will potentially be effective to address their patients' needs. Using the evidence best promotes health and wellness. Health promotion also curbs healthcare costs which is one of its important objectives out of many more. Collaboration across healthcare institutions and community settings where health management can be supported is imperative to enhance the quality of life for older adults (Hixson & Loeb 2018).
