Problem about satisfaction of the incarcerated population

Problem:

A key takeaway is that I was shocked at the lack of research on the reported satisfaction of the incarcerated population in a lot of topics. Before starting our research, I was expecting to find that there was a lot of existing research on reported satisfaction or dissatisfaction among the incarcerated population in regards to their daily lives, such as health, experiences, or overall wellness.  I seemed to notice a large gap in gauging the satisfaction of this population.

My proposed research would inform the social work practice by being research for social workers working with this population. My hope would be that my research could be used as a professional journal. Yegidis Et. Al. (2018) discusses how publication for a professional journal can be time-consuming and tedious. However, my hope would be that students in my position of more limited research could benefit despite the tedious work described to publish a journal. I think that as a professional, my goal should be the health and well-being of my population and how to advocate for them as well as supporting my fellow professionals in knowledge building.

A potential limitation of my study is participant biases. An example of this is when I was in undergrad, I participated in assisting master's level colleagues with recording data from a state prison. The study was based on sexual offenders and triggers within childhood. The incarcerated population that participated in this study was given a monetary value, though not much I at the time thought about how the monetary value given may have swayed the participants to answer in such a way that allowed them to be included in follow-up studies that were disclosed during the time of participation.

Describe ways in which the above research could influence social change. Include APA citations and references. Need Assignment Help?
