Problem: Help with peer responding to classmates discussion post
When I think about my social media campaign and my focus group of 18-25 year olds, I believe that Internet-based therapy may be best. Most of the individuals in this group are constantly online already and may feel more comfortable than sitting face to face. The trial published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (Andersson et al., 2011) compared the results between those that did enroll in internet-based therapy to self-help to those that did not receive any treatment for excessive alcohol consumption. These results showed that overall, internet-based therapy was more successful and had an overall lasting improvement (Andersson et al., 2011). Drinking in this age range is often tied to social settings, early adult stress, and the culture of being in a college environment. These reasons often times make it normalized to drink excessively and make it more difficult for the consumer to identify that they have a problem. This makes it less likely that they will seek out any kind of help, especially any type of inpatient or outpatient. Having the ability to get therapy from their own space reduces the stigma and allows for a more casual, low pressure experience.
The flexibility of internet-based therapy can reduce the excuses that the seeker does not have the time or means to attend a session. Appointments can be made on their schedule and can easily be changed as they go through life changes. Need Assignment Help?
