Patients immediate presentation

Consider the patient’s immediate presentation – what are you thinking? Why are you thinking that? Is it a gut feeling, or is it because you have considered her age and gender and so therefore the most likely diagnosis because of his situation? **Remember Murtagh’s probability diagnosis theorem.**

• This is to be written as a case study
• Word limit: 1300
• References: Strictly Vancouver
• Font: Arial.
• Professional language is used along with good academic writing skills to be demonstrated
• Peer reviewed research, textbooks, national guidelines etc (these can be Australian/UK/USA guidelines) to be used. 6-8 references please.

• I have attached the case study I have been provided with by the university, which includes subjective and objective data about this patient.

• I have attached a table detailing the 3 differential diagnoses for this case based on the subjective and objective data I have been given. These are: appendicitis ruptured ovarian cyst and ectopic pregnancy.

• This assignment should firstly describe the pathophysiology of each of the 3 presentations in detail and how this relates to the patients clinical signs and symptoms i.e. why do you suspect them and how can you include or exclude them (pay attention to the ‘for’ and ‘against’).

• Describe the investigations I would have undertaken for each differential diagnosis and why and then compare these to the test and ultra scan reports I was provided with (included as an attachment).

• Demonstrate a confirmed diagnosis and why this diagnosis was chosen (APPENDICITIS is my diagnosis) i.e. from subjective/objective data and test results.
