Measures to control malaria infection: Malaria is a communicable disease caused by the female anopheles mosquito.
a) Controlling mosquito population: Mosquito population can be controlled by two methods. One of them is the elimination of adult mosquito by spraying of insecticides.
b) Second method: To eliminate mosquito larvae. The following methods are used for this puspose.
1) To prevent water stagnation in water tanks, drainage canals.
2) To avoid discarded vessels lying outside.
3) To spray insecticides or light oil such as kerosene oil on stagnant water especially in drainage water.
4) To grow specific varieties of fishes in stagnant water. These fishes feed on mosquito larvae. Thus the spread of malaria can be prevented.
c) Protect from mosquito bites: The best method is to use mosquito nets while sleeping and by using mosquito proof nets windows and doors.
