Artificial respiration

1. First - aid for drowning victims should aim to restore respiration as quickly as possible.
2. First of all, nose, mouth and throat of the victim should be cleared of mud and other material that got in along with water. 
3. If required, mouth of the victim should be forcibly opened and cleared with finger of the first aid worker.
4. After clearing nose and mouth, the victim should be laid down on his stomach with victims face turned to one side.
5. The rescue worker should press the back of the victim with hands to expel the water from lungs.
6. After water comes out, efforts should be made to restore respiration by giving artificial respiration.
