KINDS OF GROWTH -
1. AUXETIC GROWTH -
Body grows by enlargement of its cells without increase in number of cells.
eg. Nematodes, rotifers, tunicates. Growth of body muscle by excercise.
2. MULTIPLICATIVE GROWTH -
It is due to increase in the number of cells as common in embryo.
3. ACCRETIONARY GROWTH -
In post embryonic devlopment power of cell division is lost.
At some places reserve cells present, divide, producing new cells to replace the worm out cells, eg. Stratum malpighi
4. APPOSITIONAL GROWTH -
It involves the addition of new layer on the previously formed layers.
eg. in cell wall. Addition of lamella in the formation of bone.
