These sites are often inaccurate or overly broad in their descriptions of the role. Instead, focus on reputable professional organizations such as HIMSS, ANIA, and the ANA. Please address all six assignment components listed in the assignment instructions. The easier portion of this assignment is typically identifying the role description, responsibilities, and qualifications. The more challenging aspect is discussing the key challenges the role faces in advancing health information technology (health IT) adoption. For example, a nurse informaticist may be responsible for ensuring that electronic health record (EHR) systems are designed in a way that nurses can understand and use effectively. Another challenge may involve introducing new technology, such as smartphones or mobile applications, and encouraging staff to use the technology as intended.
