Incident impacting curriculum and program planning

Problem: Katy (11), Sana, (10), and Patrice (12) are making jewelry in the creative art area of the room. Robert (10) comes over to the table to investigate the activity.  He begins to choose beads to include on the bracelet he has decided to make when Katy and Sana tell Robert that he cannot make a bracelet because he is a boy.  Patrice yells "yeah, only girls wear jewelry!  They then begin chanting, "Robert can't play, Robert can't play!"  Describe in detail how you would deal with this situation.  What would you say to the children involved (exact words)? What would you say or do with the rest of the children in the room who overheard this?  How might this incident impact your curriculum and program planning?
