Problem:
Answer to this discussion saying i liked how she put it together as it is esy to understand- In the first scenario, identifying whether clinicians hold biases against serving African American clients is important. However, using fictitious referral forms to test the biases of your employees without their knowledge would be unethical. According to the American Psychological Association (2017) states that research and evaluation must prioritize respect for the persons, which includes obtaining informed consent. Although an evaluation can reveal implicit biases and equal access to care (Dovidio & Gaertner, 2004) going behind your employees back could negatively impact professional relationships. A more ethical approach to use is an anonymous survey or questionnaire. Employees can be informed about the purpose of the evaluation and reassured that their responses are confidential. In the second scenario, evaluating a more effective intervention does not outweigh the ethical concerns. Like the first scenario, it is important to obtain informed consent and respect client autonomy. Clients have the right to know when they are part of a study and must willingly agree to participate. Deceiving clients about treatment violates their autonomy and can damage trust especially with already vulnerable populations. The NASW (2021) states social workers must obtain informed consent and protect clients from unnecessary harm. If clients were to find out they were part of a study they did not. Need Assignment Help?
