Assignment: Choose a Developmental Stage
Prior to beginning work on this assignment,
- Review Chapters 7, 8, and 9 from your course textbook, Development Through the Lifespan (7th ed.).
- Review the reading from the chapter that covers the age group you have selected (review the previous week's reading or read ahead if you have chosen one of the adult life stages).
Additionally, begin preliminary work on your final assignment in the course, creating a Developmental Resource Guide, which is due in Week 6. To begin, select an age group or developmental stage from the following list:
- infancy and toddlerhood (0 to 3 years)
- early childhood (3 to 5 years)
- middle childhood (6 to 12 years)
- adolescence (13 to 18 years)
- young adulthood (18 to 40 years)
- middle to late adulthood (40 years and older)
- death and dying
In your paper,
1. Identify the age group and developmental stage selected. Need Assignment Help?
2. Describe that age group's important physical, emotional, cognitive, and social features.
3. Analyze that developmental stage from the point of view of at least three developmental theorists (but not limited to Piaget, Freud, Erickson, etc.).
4. Summarize the theory you find most useful in explaining that developmental stage.
Support your selections and conclusions with reasoned arguments, citing a minimum of five peer-reviewed articles.
The Choose a Developmental Stage paper
A. Must be 4 to 6 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style as outlined in the Writing Center's APA Formatting for Microsoft Word resource.
B. Must include a separate title page with the following in title case:
o title of paper in bold font
- Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.
- student's name
- name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)
- course name and number
- instructor's name
- due date
C. Must utilize academic voice.
o Review the Academic Voice resource for additional guidance.
D. Must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph.
o Your introduction paragraph needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.

E. Must use at least 5 peer-reviewed journal articles, published in the last 10 years, in addition to the course text.
