Nourah works as a bank teller at Gulf National Bank. She has recently received instructions from her supervisor that all tellers will be evaluated based on the number of people they assist at their window/counter per day. Serving more customers means higher performance effectiveness. The number of customers visiting the branch is also constantly increasing. However, Nourah is also expected to follow the bank's number one goal of customer satisfaction.
Recently, the bank has hired Hamad as a trainee for the supervisor position. Two days into his new job, he was asked to take up all the responsibilities of a regional supervisor. Hamad was given very few instructions or guidelines about how things are supposed to be done. He was expected to learn on the job.
On the personal front, Hamad is also preparing for his wedding ceremony. He is keen to ensure that everything goes well with regard to his wedding celebrations.
Hamad is noticing that the stressors which he is experiencing are causing him to feel anxious and sometimes even depressed. However, to deal with these circumstances he is trying to distance himself from his problems at work by thinking about the positive things in his life.
