How you could prevent or remedy the consequences

Problem: Consider the Metric Driven unintended consequences (Box 3.2, p. 50 of Rambur text).  For example, insurance companies do not always agree with the treatment plan from a provider for a patient. Maybe they want a more economical drug to be given, rather than the one chosen by the provider, or they want to try PT for a few weeks before doing the MRI on an injured patient. In their eyes, it is more economical, but is it the BEST treatment? Who gets to make that decision?  OR what if nurses on the floor have been asked to use a new brand of foley catheter insertion kits. The kits are ok, but the sterile gloves are truly sub-par quality and break often. Nurses are having to charge patients for extra sterile gloves when they are inserting catheters, thus increasing costs. The goal of changing brands was to reduce cost. Do the higher-ups who made the decision to change brands realize the extra cost being incurred because of the poor quality equipment?

Look at the list and think of an example of an unintended consequence and how you could prevent or remedy the consequences.
