Assignment: Research Paper in American Literature
Write a research essay of about 1,500 words in length in which you construct an argument drawing on one (or two) of the short stories we have read by Irving, Hawthorne, or Poe. Your thesis should be in some way related to your initial thinking about the following question: how does the writer exhibit social responsibility? Your essay must draw upon a minimum of six sources, including at least one literary text and five secondary scholarly sources drawn from your library research.
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the assignment, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
