Let's take this and reevaluate the Family of Origin section. This excerpt is from my findings earlier about the couple. "Exploring the dynamics of the couple's family of origin (FOO) is a critical starting place to determine established perspectives and norms of each person in the relationship. It brings forward often hidden beliefs and expectations of roles in relationships and ultimately marriage. Betchen comments, "a child may begin to develop an internal conflict around control if one or both parents habitually conveyed mixed messages about control" (Betchen,2022). Within both Nathan's and Amber's FOO, there are some red flags that should be explored centered around each person's perspective on roles within a relationship and ultimately a marriage. If left unspoken and undiscovered, they could be a potential for failure in the future. Biblical principles worth exploring in this section are Proverbs' "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6, New International Version). Additionally, worth exploring and expounding further with them is what Apostle Paul writes, "Submit one to another out of reverence for Christ" (Ephesians 5:21, NIV).
