This decline interferes with daily functioning (Whitbourne, 2020). Although most of these disorders overlap in areas such as memory impairment, their symptom patterns differ. Alzheimer's disease typically presents with a more gradual memory loss and is associated with what is called beta-amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (I am still learning to understand this!)
