(1) Surf the web to find an example of a photographic fakery (film or digital) that you find particularly interesting.

– Write a paragraph or two describing the fakery.

Discuss the “who/what/when/where/why/how” information about this particular fakery.

– Include a printout of the picture.

(2) The primary mirror in the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is 2.4m in diameter, and the f-number of the overall telescope is 24. Calculate the focal length of the HST.

(3) Assume that you are outside at night, staring up at the very dark sky. You are dark-adapted, and the diameter of the pupil in your eye is 7mm. Given this, how much more light does the HST gather, compared to your eye looking at the night sky?

(4) The Hubble Space Telescope is of a Ritchey-Chretien design, which we may think of as essentially a Cassegrain. Therefore, is the HST secondary mirror concave or convex?
