EQUILIBRIUM -
Cristae and maculae are concerned with equilibrium.
1. DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM -
Cristare detect turning or rotational movement of head (angular acceleration)
2. STATIC EQUILIBRIUM AND LINEAR ACCELERATION -
Maculae detect changes in the head at rest (static equilibrium) and in the forward movement (linear aceleration). with the change in position of body otolith press upon the sensory hair.
Men is used to move in horizontal plane but not in vertical plane. If so in brain stomach-dropping out sensation is created. This feeling can be avoided by looking at the ceiling, thus befooling the semicircular canal.
