Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is coded DSM-5 code 309.9 and ICD-10 code F43.9. These conditions are graded like other mental disorders caused by either traumatic or stressful situations. Therefore, it is essential to determine whether this patient receives the services as a new patient or an established patient. In this case, this patient is not new because her doctor is just retiring. Therefore, the billing process for this patient will not be the same as that of a new patient. is this true, please help explain.
