The more I think about marketing-reading research and your Discussion posts and case studies etc., the more convinced I am than ever before that the world has changed. Every aspect of our culture has moved from one-way communication (lectures, traditional TV ads, traditional media) to two-way communication (long lectures are shown by research to lose their effectiveness after approx. 10 minutes, sharing and collaborating are the best ways to learn, media now includes reader responses and blogs, TV used Twitter comments to include the viewer etc.) I don't think we can talk too much about how Social Media is changing our business world, educational world, entertainment world, and all of culture as a result.
Discuss how you feel about social media and marketing. Do you consider it a "mandatory component" of any and all businesses? Why or why not? Do you agree that business (and life!) are all about relationships and that is why social media is so vital? Please look at, think about, and digest the social media infographics page I have linked below. After viewing please share your thoughts on various target markets and how social media will (or will not) affect consumer behavior.
