Two distortions influenced the quality of the decision.
Availability Heuristic:
The Developers talk about programming and languages between them, and in many of those conversations, there is one which is the most popular language, and it may mention many times with a link to marketing areas; this could cause them to keep this selection as something readily available in their mind as a first instance and only language with a connection with the marketing. Furthermore, this programming language may have massive advertisements on the web. The developers could visualize that many times which may also result in selecting that language as the only option since the advertisement leaves a lasting impression on them that could make the developers may use only that information to decide because it is the one that most readily comes to their mind.
Confirmation Bias:
The decision-makers (Developers) might have focused biased towards some programming languages because they were the languages that they had used in the past, and this bias could influence their evaluation of the other languages. For example, they may have been more likely to focus on the positive aspects of the languages they were familiar with and avoid the negative aspects of them or the positive aspects of the other languages. They also may tend to search for information that confirms their initial preference for the programming language and ignore information that contradicts their preference. This means they may have been more likely to read articles praising the languages they were familiar with and ignore articles criticizing them.
