As research and examine the public health/environmental health literature, will likely see a heavy reliance on the methodologies and terminology from the fields of toxicology and epidemiology. Essentially, these two sciences provide the basis for environmental health research. As a public health scholar, understanding the foundations of these two fields and the underlying methodologies will better contribute to your abilities in synthesizing research and distilling those elements of the research which can propel the study of public health further.

Peer-reviewed research strives to progress and share insights on addressing research questions, posing enhanced methodologies, and revealing perhaps unknown or poorly understood pathways for discovery. An essential element of understanding and doing research is critiquing what has been done. In conducting a journal article critique or critique of the research literature, you are seeking to determine whether the analysis and methods performed enhance the field of study and contribute findings that will lead to further discovery.

For this Discussion assign a journal article that you will critique. Will address a series of prompts to assist in critique of the journal article provided.

Prepare:

Thoroughly evaluate the journal article that the Instructor provided and a scholarly critique of the content.  Response must include the following:

Describe the public health significance of the study. Discuss whether the impact is local or global and what important public health gap might be filled by this article. Be specific. Need Assignment Help?

Critique the methodology. Support your analysis of how effective this methodology was and what might have been done differently to be more effective.

Interpret the results in own words and explain whether  agree or disagree with the author's interpretation. Be specific.

Appraise whether the findings are actionable and if so, describe at least one action.
