Children develop in many different ways, often based upon their individual experiences or the environment they are surrounded by(Davidov, Knafo-Noam, Serbin, & Moss, 2015). For example, children who are raised in a violent or unsettling environment are more likely to show violent behaviors or characteristics as compared to individuals who were raised in non-violent environments(Perkins & Graham-Bermann, 2012). This exposure causes changes to brain development which can then have significant long term side effects such as mental health issues, learning disabilities, and more(Perkins & Graham-Bermann, 2012). Not only are children influenced by their physical environment, but also the people that surround them. For example, parents play an extremely large role in the development of children's brains just by engaging with the child. Young children will begin to imitate or mimic adult figures around them, attempting to learn through their experiences(Shrier, 2014). The developing brain of these young children are like sponges just waiting to absorb knowledge, which is why it is so important to provide these children with positive experiences, putting them in environments which will allow them to thrive. By limiting exposure to stress, children are less likely to build up trauma and sensitivity which will directly affect brain and personal development(CDC, 2022). In order to limit exposure to these stressors, strategies such establishing routines, ensuring safety, and validating their emotions are important to ensure healthy brain development occurs(CDC, 2022). Implementing these approaches to everyday life will theoretically allow for healthy brain development. Need Assignment Help?
