Problem: According to American Counseling Association Code of Ethics (2014), it is important that the client is the one who brings up faith and desires faith elements brought into treatment. It is important counselors are aware that the client is okay with a faith-based approach before working with that client utilizing those methods. For counselors, it is important that the counselor also understands their position in utilizing faith-based approaches. It is the clients talking about their faith, values, and beliefs not the counselor as there can be differences. However, if the client agrees asking questions about what they believe will be key. If they are believer in God they will want to live, act, and be as Jesus was. Therefore, working for a company that does not align with those core values would not be beneficial for that client. Moreover, career counseling will have its more difficult days with single parents because they have a lot of outside factors going on other than narrowing down their career options.
