Case Scenario: A Family in Crisis
The step-mom is a 34-year-old married female who has no children of her own as she has been unable to conceive. She has undergone fertility counselling and testing. Following her last pap smear she was told she has abnormal cells growing. This is her first marriage but her partner was married before.
The father is a 43-year-old man who farms but his land is close to the river and has experienced flooding the last two years. As a result, the family income has decreased. While recently waiting in a pharmacy he tested his blood pressure and it was 180/94. He has not seen a Doctor since he broke his arm 8 years previous.
The two children spend every second week in their father's home.
The oldest daughter is 5' 6" tall and weighs 102 lbs. She spends alot of time exercising and examining her body in the mirror. She is in grade 12 and has no plans for after high school.
The second daughter is 11 years old and has frequent crying episodes and displays anger to her father.
The father's parents live in the old farm home on the land. They are both 71 years old and are in good health. The grandfather helps out with the farm and the grandmother puts in a large garden. They have remained close to their granddaughters and the girls' mother.
The project should take into account the stages of growth and development by at least one theorist such as Piaget & or Erickson.
