Components compared to a standard food product

Search out 10 products that are either “NEW” or “COMPOSITIONALLY ALTERED”. (Compositionally altered means that the product is different in certain key components compared to a standard food product. This could be low-fat, low-cal, added fiber, lactose-free, diabetic foods, etc.). For each of your chosen products, make note of the basic technology employed in its production (maybe it uses a fatreplacer to eliminate fat, or an alternative sweetener to replace sugar), the marketing strategy used, the target customer, price compared to a similar or standard product, its shelf position, and your personal likes/dislikes regarding the product. Please note – you do not have to purchase the products unless your stomach forces you to!

• As an introduction paragraph, define why you are headed to the supermarket and the goals of your trip. And that IS NOT because Dr. Phebus made me. What are your goals and your planned approach to finding the products and compiling your information? As a conclusion to your report, summarize your general findings or observations in general by discussing the predominant trends in foods that you observed, unique ways that grocery stores are approaching diversification and getting more of the consumers’ dollars, and how you feel about the U.S. food marketing system.

Develop a well-organized, visually styled and appealing, typed report of 4-5 pages (Word document please!). Report should be single spaced and 11-12 pt. font. You can double space between products and paragraphs.
