Problem: Clinically and professionally write DAP note
Met with youth for session, youth was upset due to the fact her home visit was cancelled after being caught stealing out of DCPP transport purse. Sophia initially denied that she stole the money, then after speaking with staff she admitted to taking the cash. Sophia stated that she was in trouble at school with another kid at school. Sophia reported that this kid was threatening her because she borrowed an expensive item from her and lost the item. When asked what the item was Sophia stated that I would not know what it was, she reported that it was something that she intended on using for an art project. This writer asked Sophia why this information was not reported to myself or the school and she stated that she wanted to take care of it herself. I then asked her how did she plan on replacing the item, as the program is 24/7 supervision therefore a staff would have noticed that she had cash. She stated that she was going to request for Ms. Robin to take her to replace the item, I advised Sophia that I would be following up with the school on Monday and Sophia began to change her story. She stated that she took the money, because she wanted to be able to get Ms. Robin and her cousins some gifts for the holidays. Sophia was praised for eventually telling the truth, Sophia began to cry hysterically, as I believe she was ashamed that she got caught, After using several deep breathing techniques Sophia was able to calm down and end the session well. Later on in the day I checked in with staff to see how she was doing and they reported that she was being her normal self. Will discuss in next session making better decisions, impulsivity, and being able to hold herself accountable. Due to staff reporting that Sophia continued throughout the day with no issues leads me to believe that she lacks remorse and other peoples feelings consistent with her Reactive attachment Diagnosis.
