Problem: The U.S. government should provide a path to citizenship for Dreamers or undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children with no say in the matter. They should be allowed to obtain citizenship if they have lived in the country for a majority of their lives so that they can have the opportunity to improve their educations and careers. This would contribute positively to the country's economy and would help to create safety and stability for immigrant families who often rely on their English-speaking children in certain ways. These children deserve the same opportunities for growth that any other child in this country deserves; they did not break immigration laws and enter the country illegally on their own. Any undocumented immigrant who has lived in the country for over 5 years should also be given a path to citizenship if they have been employed and paying taxes for most of that time. They're already here and improving their lives would only benefit the country as a whole.
