While this and legal immigration grant citizenship, this is only half of it to me. America is one of few places where you are supposed to be able to live without an overreaching government meddling in your day to day life. There are laws in place, but laws that keep you from treading on the freedoms of another citizen. Despite big government's efforts to convert our republic into an oligarchy ruled by the rich and politicians, our citizens remain free to make their own decisions about many things.
