Sign language goes beyond ASL and others designed for communication among the deaf. It may give us some idea regarding how humans acquire language and even the possible origins of language.

1. Describe how deaf children in Nicaragua developed a sign language of their own. Include in your answer the role of adults (or lack of it) in this process.

2. Describe how, according to Richard Dawkins and others, Homo sapiens or their ancestors might have developed language based on what we know about the acquisition of sign language among deaf children in Nicaragua.
