Final Project Reflection:
This term you have been working on improving your personal, professional, and academic writing skills. For the past 3 weeks, you have focused on developing an academic research paper. You now have a complete draft and need to take the final steps to integrate research, revise, polish, and wrap up your essay.
For the Unit 9 Assignment, you will write an academic essay that informs an audience about the issue in your career field which you identified in your Unit 4
Assignment.
Step 1: Review the article that you selected for your Unit 4 and Unit 6 Assignments and think about the implications of the issues the article raises for a larger academic audience.
Step 2: Establish a clear audience and purpose and for your Unit 9 Assignment.
You could explore an implication or issue that the original article does not address, or you could disagree with the original author’s point of view about this issue and establish your own. Or you may choose to explore the larger implications of this issue (for example, does this issue have implications for changes in the field of study, should this be an issue that deserves more attention in the academic community, or should this issue be incorporated into a school’s program to improve students’ knowledge about the field).
Step 3: Write an academic essay that in some way responds to the issue raised by the original article you chose for your Unit 4 and Unit 6 Assignments.
This essay should demonstrate your ability to write a formal document that addresses an academic audience of your instructor and other professionals in your field.
Make it your goal to ultimately publish your paper in a journal professionals in your field read and rely on for knowledge and current information. The paper must also demonstrate the ability to incorporate and cite your original article and at least 2 additional reliable, secondary sources appropriate to academic writing.

Length and Format Requirements: Your project should be the equivalent of 2 and 1/2 to 3 double spaced pages.
Your Final Project essay should meet the following guidelines:
1. It must be informative, rather than persuasive in nature.
2. It must have a clear introduction and conclusion.
3. It must have a clear thesis that limits the topic and establishes the essay’s main point.
4. It must develop the thesis with a combination of original thought and resource material.
5. It must incorporate the original article and at least 2 additional reliable, secondary sources appropriately; source material should be used to develop the writer’s ideas, rather than becoming the focus of the paper. At least 1 of those sources must be from the Kaplan University Library.
6. It must avoid unreliable sources or sources inappropriate for an academic essay, including but not limited to Wikipedia.
7. Source material, whether it is quoted or paraphrased, must be given appropriate credit, including in text citations and a citation in the References page.
8. It must follow APA 6th edition format requirements, including an appropriately formatted title page, 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced paragraphs and one-inch margins.
9. It should be written with an appropriate level of formality, avoiding first and second person.
