Discuss how you might tackle the modern issue they presented from the community worker role you chose for your initial discussion post. Human-service professionals can take on many different roles when working in the community. I think I could see myself doing all of the roles listed, but especially being an advocate and change agent. I enjoy helping people find resources, solve problems, and improve difficult situations. I think advocacy is important because many people do not know what programs or services are available to help them. The role I would probably feel least comfortable with would be facilitator of indigenous healing systems because I would want to fully understand the culture and traditions before working in that area. I would never want to disrespect someone's beliefs or practices due to lack of knowledge. I think this role would require a lot of education, listening, and cultural understanding.
