Subsequent to the completion of P wave, the iso-electric interval takes place. Following this, QR and S waves start. Q wave is a tiny negative downward deflection. It is mostly indefinite. It symbolizes atrial septal depolarization. R wave is a well-known positive wave and S wave is a small negative wave. R and S waves are due to the depolarization of ventricular muscle.

The duration of the QRS complex is around 0.08 second and generally does not exceed 0.1second. The average amplitude to R wave is around 1 mv. Lot of diagnostic information can be increased from alteration in the QRS complex.
