The system analyst role is shown in fig 3.3 the analyst will act as a consultant when he goes to consult with the customer side organization and parallel he will act as the role of the specifier senior designer at the developer side organization. The analyst performs or coordinates each of the tasks associated with software requirements analysis.

During recognition tasks he communicates with user customer staff to ascertain characteristics of the existing environment.

Typically analysts research a problem by asking questions of the client and the user and by reading existing documents. The process of obtaining answers to questions that might arise in an analyst mind continues until the analyst that all the information has been obtained.

As mentioned earlier, frequently the client and the users do not understand or know all their needs, because the potential of the new system is often not fully appreciated. The analysts have to ensure that the real needs of the clients and the users are uncovered. Even if they do not know them clearly. That is the analysts are not just collecting and organizing information about the client organization and its processes, rather they act as consultants who play an active role of helping the clients and users to identify their needs. Due to this it is extremely  important that the analysts  thoroughly understand the client organization and its  purpose, the  problem domain and the purpose of automation in other  words for the duration of  the analysis the analyst  has to get in the  shoes of the clients and users. Only they can help bring out that need that even the client and the user do not know initially. 

The analyst calls upon development staff during evaluation and synthesis tasks so that characteristics of the software are correctly defined. The analyst is generally responsible for development of as software requirement specification and participates in all reviews.

So system analyst plays an important role during requirement analysis and also be active during the remaining software development.
