Sewage is the utilized and waste water including of human excreta, and industrial & agricultural wastes, wash waters that enter the sewage system. The accumulated materials in sludge tanks are subjected to aluminum sulfate or the other coagulants and hence the suspended particles, organic materials and microorganisms must be trapped as in sedimentation procedure of water purification. Primary treatment of sewage eliminates 30-40% of the BOD and secondary treatment is essential for suitable BOD reduction
