Introduction to Non-Automatic Iron Box
The temperature is not regulated in non-automatic type. The user itself has to switch ON or OFF the iron according to the heat requirement.

Sole Plate:
It is built up cast iron and it is usually chromium-plated. The transfer of heat from the heating element to the material ironed is completed by sole-plate.
Heating element:
There are two categories of heating elements. One is prepared of ribbon shaped Nichrome (resistance) wire wound around a mica's sheet. This category of element is positioned on the top of the sole-plate as displayed in the heating element (type 1) diagram. Another type is made up of round resistance wire that is coiled on a ceramic form and cast straight into the sole plate as displayed in the heating element (type 2) diagram. The flat type element is capable to replace where the cast type heating element has to be replaced together with the sole-plate only. In this sort of irons, a pressure plate is not essential.
