Formation of Niacin:
Niacin is pyridine 3-carboxylic acid. Nicotinamide/niacinamide is the amide of nicotinic acid.
It obtains its name from nicotine, by which it can be ready via oxidation. In tissues, it is available as nicotinamide that is the physiologically active form .Nicotinamide, the active component in NAD+ and NADP+.
In the body Niacin is synthesised from tryptophan, a necessary amino acid. Tryptophan or proteins’ administration is rich in tryptophan is followed via increased excretion of niacin metabolites. Diets that deficient in tryptophan generate a deficiency of niacin in the body.
The subsequent scheme has been planned via Hayaishi and others for the conversion of tryptophan into niacin in the liver.
