Human Resource planning is the practice using which a management makes a decision how an organization should grow from its existing manpower position to its preferred manpower position. Definitions of Human Resource Planning: 1. Coleman definition: Human Resource Planning is the process of determining manpower necessities and the way for meeting those necessities in order to carry out the integrated plan of the organization. 2. Wikstrom says Human Resource Planning comprises of a series of actions: (a) Forecasting future manpower necessities, either in terms of statistical projections of trends in the economic environment and growth in industry, or in terms of judgmental estimations based upon the specific future strategy of a company. (b) Making a record of current manpower resources and evaluating the extent to which these resources are in work optimally. (c) Foreseeing manpower problems by projecting at hand resources into the future and judging them against the forecast of necessities to decide their adequacy, both quantitatively and qualitatively. (d) Planning the essential programs of necessities, selection, development, training, utilization, promotion, transfer, motivation and compensation to make sure that future manpower necessities are met.
