Myo-inositol is one of eight naturally available forms which make up the nutrient inositol. Each one has a slightly distinct shape and is individually termed to as isomers. The myo-inositol isomer is the most plentiful form found in the central nervous system, where it can be transformed into phosphatidyl inositol, second messenger neurotransmitters. Inositol is the word employed to explain the whole group of isomers altogether.
