Formation of the cell wall:
During telophasic phase of mitosis, the phragmoplast widens and becomes barrel shaped. At similar time, on equatorial plane the cell plate that is, the first evident partition among daughter protoplasts starts to form within the phragmoplast. In the region where the cell plate forms, the fibers of the phragmoplast become unclear and are restricted to the circumference of the cell plate. Whenever the cell plate is totally formed the phragmoplast disappears entirely. At this phase thin lamellae are laid down by the daughter protoplasts on both the sides of the cell plate. The cell plate steadily undergoes modifications to form the intercellular substances termed to as middle lamella.
