Explain Grievance Proceedings

Grievance Proceedings: The grievance process is the mechanism employed by the union to address the administration violations of collective bargaining agreement. It gives a process which needs administrators to make an excellent faith attempt to negotiate a settlement with union officials whenever disputes occur. When a settlement can’t be reached the union has the choice to take the matter prior to an arbitrator who makes an ultimate and binding decision.

It is a step by step procedure an employee should follow to get his or her complaint addressed suitably. In this procedure, the formal (written) complaint moves from one stage of authority (of the firm and union) to the next higher stage. Grievance procedures are usually involved in union (that is, collective bargaining) agreements.
