Analyse your information:

Identify what the information is telling you about the scale of the problem, nature of the problem, and the causes of the problem. If your information throws up further questions or doesn't give you the understanding that is required, you will need to plan to collect further information Design and implement solution

You will need to engage with stakeholders to initially brainstorm some solutions that address the causes of the problem. You will need to carry out activities to narrow down the solutions, and then come up with a plan to implement the solutions effectively (consider the principles of change management)Evaluate the changes

Carry out the same measurements again. Analyse the information to understand if there have been any improvements since the initial measurements. Carry out further analysis to understand the causes of any changes, and to understand the overall impacts of the changes solutions you introduced (remember it is difficult to infer causality unless you have carried out an experiment!

- Continue to monitor the changes / impactso Review and follow-up regularly by carrying out measurements again on a periodic basis§ Then you can understand long-term impacts, further areas for improvement and adjustment. This allows you to implement "continuous improvement" and to set in place systems to make the changes stick (embed the change)

Using your understanding of a specific case study (which you found a CQC inspection report on), answer the following questions: How could you generate a set of criteria for evaluating the service, and later evaluating any changes and potential improvements? What would be an appropriate strategy for collecting information about these changes and potential improvements? Based on the information you have, what is a key problem to be addressed? Create a clearly defined problem statement. What methods would you use to collect information in order to understand the problem? Why would you use these methods? How would you use the methods to collect the required information? After collecting the information, how could you use your measurements to analyse the problem (e.g. its scale, nature and causes)? How could the information be used to design appropriate solutions / service responses? How could you implement the solutions effectively and manage change effectively? How could you later evaluate and monitor the overall impacts of your suggested solution.
