Problem:
A description of potential ethical challenges in the Fort Worth, Texas, scenario from your resources this week. Ethical issues - public deception/lack of transparency, abuse of authority
Based on your experience or research, do you believe the police officers involved in the scenario should have known their actions were questionable? Yes very much so. Uniformed officers have a level of expectation from the public when out in the field. They know being visible on the road as if conducting traffic stops will result in drivers proceeding with more caution than they normally would.
Again, from your experience or research, what disciplinary action, if any, do you believe would be appropriate for this situation? I don't feel any disciplinary action should have been taken place but it does leave a black eye on the police with the public.
Do you believe the letter from the chief of police to the citizens of Ft. Worth, Texas, was an adequate response to the situation? Why or why not? No. If you are going to put out a letter of apology then there needs to follow up with some changes that will be implemented.
Finally, explain how leadership might have changed the outcome of the scenario by demonstrating integrity and ethics. I strong ethical leader would not have participated in this program. They could have possibly relied on the public for help in this research insuring the public that this would be done under anomality. Need Assignment Help?
