I am a doctoral student. Mother of three grown children all older than 23. Age 45. Recently fired from job. No transportation. Living in a town for three years where the opportunities for work and raising children is not good. Divorced but living with boyfriend of one year who is 10 years younger and has no children. He shares rent and utilities and is a manager who travels more frequently within the last two months.
His first trip was to California last month and he did send me confirmation of his whereabouts. He had an unexpected trip to Iowa two weeks ago and did not send me word in an email as to his whereabouts. Last week he said he was going to see a doctor on a Sunday and when I asked what doctor has hours on a Sunday he told me he did not know that a colleague told him about a doctor who had hours but the doctor did not. Then he decided to go get a message from female angels instead. He did not tell me where he was going or what he had done. He does not talk to me much about anything. He does not buy any food for our household anymore. He does not take me out to restaurants or on dates. He works overnight comes home an watches television and goes to sleep but frequently sleeps on the couch and stays in rooms at the opposite end of my apartment. He does not offer to help me with any chores. Someone locked my door to my house two days ago and he was one of three tenants at home at the time but did not answer whether he did it. I hurt myself trying to get into the house and he did not ask me if I needed any medical attention or help. He has made the statement that he will not support me if I cannot find a job to pay the rent.
Three years ago I met him in another apartment and he asked me to date him and we dated for six months months before he decided to move out and into another apartment without telling me. He just stopped talking to me and packed his things and moved. When I asked him if he ever considered getting married he said we should live together for a time of two years and then decide. After he moved and stopped talking to me we both started dating other people. Then he came into my place of work and asked me to help him find medicine at the pharmacy. When I asked him if he was seeing somebody he told me he was in a relationship and his girlfriend would not appreciate him talking to me. I had a roommate who worked at a convenience store in town and I saw him in the turkey hill when I went there to see her and shop. I saw him in there shopping also but he did not talk to me.
Then he sent me an email and told me that his relationship was ending because his girlfriend was talking to men online. After they broke up I found out he had been living with her two blocks away from my house and she had decided to leave him. Then he wanted to get together with me and asked me to go out on a date with him. I went out with him to a restaurant and he bought me lunch and drinks and told me that he wanted to see me again. After his girlfirend moved out he asked me to come stay with him until he decided if he was going to quit his lease. I stayed at his place for a few weeks and kept my apartment.
I asked him if he wanted to move in with me as I was concerned for his wellbeing and my roommate said that was okay with her. He moved in and got on my lease and she lost her job and moved out. When he first moved in he got on the lease so now the apartment is both of ours. He knew that I was attending school full time online and was looking to get a better job. He now says that he wants a partner who is his equal and has a dependable income and is not interested in being a support to a woman or considering marrying. When he first moved in he slept in the bedroom and now he does not.
I have worries of my own because I do not have transportation to find another job outside of my town, there are no job opportunites where I live and my savings is running low because of paying rent with him. I went through a pane of glass two days ago when I tried to get my housekeys off of the roof of my house where they had landed after I was locked out of my house and threw them at the window to get his attention. I got cut with glass going out of my second floor apartment window on my legs when I got on a glass table that shattered and I went right through it. My legs only got scratched but I realize that I could have gotten cut worse. What suprised me was that he did not react with worry or concern at all.
I have also been have dreams that my son was cutting himself with glass the night before I got cut. I would like some insight into my situation and thoughts and see answers and any opinions or ideas from someone who has good answers and cares about a students personal well-being, relationships, and future if there are any patterns that are indicating predictable events please explain.
