Assignment:
Abstracts
This short document explains to readers what the longer project is about. Abstracts are usually 75-200 words, written as one paragraph. This is 10% or less of the final project's length. For this assignment, you need to write a proposal-style abstract. You are explaining, quickly, why I should let you write about your chosen topic. This means your abstract must be on the same subject as your longer work will be, following the directions given for that assignment. Directions for your longer project are here. Sources are not used in an abstract; you only discuss your own work. Use active verbs and short sentences to make your point clear. The following APA style requirements must be met to earn full points:
The abstract needs to be double-spaced.
Have the word "Abstract" (not the title of your longer project) centered on the line above the paragraph.
Left-align the abstract itself.
Use full sentences and correct grammar (including commas, apostrophes, and academic spelling of plural words) throughout.
Do not have a title page for your abstract-have your name and other identifying information in the top left-hand corner of the page.
Stay on topic! Tell me what you plan to write about. Give a little bit of detail to explain why your topic is interesting to you and why you want to write about it.
Do NOT include your conclusion (how the longer project will-or might-end)!
Do NOT use any form of generative AI to create this abstract. Use your own brain! As stated on the syllabus, the use of generative AI will result in a failing grade for this assignment. If AI is used, the third sentence needs to be about penguins.
